Intro This is so when I turn 40 I'll have finally released a song And this is how I hope you'll remember Me when I'm long gone And some of these might be about you Or maybe this is how I'll meet you Horsefly I've been buzzin like a horsefly I've been smilin in my sleep Send my best And give your love my love What I wouldn't give You've been shining like a birdsong All around and in my head I decided what I had to say And said it but forget it It was never what I meant (But I looked you in the eye) You decided what you needed And Im sad at you For burning down the barn without amends (and my tail's between my legs) You've been slippin through my fingers When you leave you leave an ache I'll remember you in warm light That you radiate

Oo Oo Whatchyou waiting for? Hold your breath And take my hand and I'll Make you laugh and pull you in I forgot there was music on I forgot we're surrounded by everyone Oo Oo Yoo-hoo Are you hearin me? Moon walk on a silent block It gets warm, I can hear you tick tock and I I'll be ready when you are love Come shine with me in the morning, love

Little pretty pumpkin And a little sumthin sumthin There is somethin in the water There is somethin in you And love, if you could hear me Show me mercy and release me I've been praying but I'm thinkin that I'll never get through And now I need a moment I could hear a little feedback Cuz if I'm honest with you now You'll never see me the same And now I think I'm over it I don't know that I can shoulder it Oh, the last thing that I'd do Is let you down to your face Now I'm on my back foot and you know You've got me cornered with your interview I'm tongue-tied twistin like an animal You've got me cornered with your interview What was I supposed to do? So how'd you make it up there To the mountains in the thin air Is it harder than it looks, or is it really just me I'm all up in my head now God if you could pull me out Put a fork in it and let me down It's better that way Sorry I was standing for a while Looking down What was I supposed to do? You've got me cornered with your interview I'm tongue-tied twistin like an animal You've got me cornered with your interview What was I supposed to do? Another promise in the moment That I'll live to regret My heart and soul both know the answer But my mouth doesn't yet My arms and legs are gettin tired From digging out of this debt You've got me cornered with your interview I'm tongue-tied twistin like an animal You've got me cornered with your interview What was I supposed to do?

Unnerved 04:18
And I feel Unnerved When you come in my room There's a hollow wind A shiver in a Tomb Help I'm home Help My home Did you come my way Follow me away And I feel unnerved When you come in my room Like a dog unhinged Barkin in my room And I bet a million dollars I don't get out alive Frozen like a bunny in a cage Frozen lifeless bodies in a grave Pushin on a broken door and pullin on the brakes I get cold And I feel relieved When I'm left to my room And the blood returns Now I feel my legs And I'm lying on the roof And I'm alone I'm a floating little cloud Til you come Frozen like a bunny in a cage Dozen lifeless bodies in a grave Fitted in a formal gown And lowered in the ground I'm worn out And I feel unnerved When you come in my room Like a dog in chains Barkin in my room Criminal and armed And I'm your prey And I'm feelin like a man Without a life And I'm beggin for your mercy

I gave up The Doors And vintage clothing stores I sold all the sunglasses you left me in my drawer I stopped flying south And playing Modest Mouse And I switched my job a hundred times And I almost bought a house And I work right next door To Frank Lloyd Wright's round door And leave in the trans-bay tube In the San Francisco aquarium And I don't love LA Still a fanboy of the bay I walk the block past City Lights Bookstore But it doesn't feel the same And I don't curse the day That we talked and walked away But I kept the charcoal New Balance Sweatshirt And I'm wearing it today Oooooo Oooooo I wanna know I wanna know now I wanna know, I wanna know Do you remember You broke my heart and I broke yours too Mama, You took my heart and I took some too You broke my heart and I broke yours too Mama,You kept a part and I kept some too And I don't live alone Got a bunny and Liz at home And an upright Baldwin From a lady down in Santa Marina And I left my old guitar In the locker of a baggage car But I got your souvenir In the back of my closet You broke my heart and I broke yours too Mama, You took my heart and I took some too This is just to let you know There's a piece of you I never let go And I wonder do you carry me with you Somewhere buried below

Git Along 03:32
I went to the Fillmore I saw Weird Al there How could I pass He was my hero Eleven years later I saw Tears For Fears there But I was alone So I shared it with strangers And I saw a dot in the night That I thought was the light That connects everyone Walk upstairs And the Ancients look down Take a deep breath Let the earth spin round Moon is shining in the sinking sun now How far the Ancients go How far the Ancients go Git along, git along, git along Til the end of days Git along, git along, git along Til the end Git along, git along, git along Til the end of days Ooo oo ooo oo ooooo I played the piano At Jonathan's funeral He was a kid I only met his big brother And I saw a dot in the night That I thought was the light That connects me to him And I felt a pull in my chest That connects to the rest Of the parts I can't see Git along, git along, git along Til the end of days Git along, git along, git along Til the end of days And I saw a dot In the night that I thought And I saw a dot In the night that I thought That connects everyone (Git along) Git along, git along, git along Til the end of days (When your back's out, Git along) Git along, git along, git along Til the end (When you're tired, Git along) Git along, git along, git along Til the end of days Ooo oo ooo oo ooooo

about

Dead Meat is the first album from Brother Boost, AKA, Peter Hatch. It's a reflection on friends and family, procrastination, introversion, horseshit, facing 40, and taking stock. And after 20 years of insulated bedroom-recordings and lost hard drives, Dead Meat is an earnest effort to throw away old song-hoarding habits. These should be played maximally loud and shared with strangers.

released December 28, 2021

Peter wrote, recorded, and produced Dead Meat at home in Berkeley, CA. Yuuki Matthews mixed, produced, and lent brains, style, and confidence. Eli West played mandolin, steel, acoustic, and electric guitar on Horsefly, Swedish Horse, Dolly Parton, Little Pretty Pumpkin, and XOXO, and helped me think this could be a record from the beginning. Justin Keller played electric guitar, saxophone, and bass clarinet on Unnerved and several B-sides, and offered songwriting notes and tips along the way. Liz Hatch sang on Dolly Parton and Calm er Down, donated lifetimes of feedback, gave me lyric ideas, and stood motionless while I recorded vocals. James McCalister played drums on Swedish Horse, Dolly Parton, Little Pretty Pumpkin, Unnerved, and Calm er Down. Christopher Colbert mastered the album. Special thanks to Jeff Pulver and Scott Allen for years of inquiring about m'tunes, and my whole family for cheering me on like wild animals. <3
